A surprise divorce, no job and a move to a new state to start over at the ripe old age of 50. Maxed out my credit cards, lived off what little bit of money I had and ended up in bankruptcy court last year. I survived and am beginning to thrive! It's been tough, but now...so am I.

Day One - Hello 2010!

Sorry - I need help figuring out how to post a spreadsheet.
As soon as I learn, I will post it. In the meantime, I'll post this and try to put the spreadsheet into a word document.

THIS IS IT!!!!!  Today is THE day.  It’s January 1, 2010.  Last night Dick Clark said ‘good by’ to 2009 for all of us, today the sun is shining and my soul is filled with hope for my new year.  It’s the day I start budgeting and saving to buy my home.  It took me a while to figure out the format I wanted to use to display my daily finances, well actually it took me a while to get up the courage to do this at all.  Shoot, it took me a while to figure out that there was no Prince Charming coming to rescue me from myself (but that’s why I’m writing this blog, isn’t it?  To be my own saviour????).  This spreadsheet format will, like life, evolve over time but I think I’ve got a good start on tracking where I am at any given moment

I have to buy a few things today but will post my purchases by the end of the day.   This system is already working for me – I’m actually thinking twice about what I put in my cart.  I ask myself if I need it or want it and then make my decision from there.  As time goes on, I’ll be posting my purchasing thought processes but for today, I’ll keep this short as I have to go workout at the gym in my apartment complex; it’s free, I’m gaining weight – this is a no-brainer that even my monetarily challenged pea brain can comprehend.

A house.  For me.  Wow!!!!

Anyone know a good realtor?
